There Was A Cat

So I let the dogs out on the front porch as I sometimes do and unbeknownst to me there was a cat on my porch. Well the cat jumped up in surprise as can be expected and the dogs who were probably just as surprised to see a cat on THEIR porch jumped into action. The dogs went after the cat and the cat freaked out. She (I'm calling the cat a she) tried to get out over the gate and didn't jump high enough so then she sprinted across the porch and tried to jump over the railing jumping a little to the left and hitting the house. The whole time the dogs are going after the cat and the cat is totally freaking out. I'm freaking out a little bit and yelling at the dogs to stop and they are not listening. So then the cat makes one more try jumping over the railing and makes it over. Me and Adam are both yelling at the dogs now and they did not jump over the railing after the cat. We put them back inside as that was enough of an adventure for all of us.

FSUSD (part 2)

After speaking with the district office again I was informed that the only way to get Angela into B. Gale Wilson School is to apply for open enrollment. Adam decided to go down there in person and speak to someone. He went to the office of Secondary Education and ended up talking with the secretary. She informed him that the only way to get Angela to go to B. Gale is to apply for open enrollment. He was not satisfied with this so he asked to speak to William Luna who is the head of Administrative Services. She gave him directions to get to his office. When Adam got up there he found Mr. Luna's secretary. He explained the situation to her and she informed him that if we wanted Angela to go to B. Gale we would have to apply for open enrollment and there was nothing we/they could do. Not being satisfied with this Adam informed the secretary lady that if Angela is not enrolled at B. Gale Wilson school we would have no choice other than to home school. This got her attention and all of a sudden she was very cooperative. She went into another office and when she came back out she told Adam that she would e-mail the principals of both schools and let them know. We just need to get her file from Sullivan and make sure it gets to B. Gale. It's as simple as that.

FSUSD

So I am very frustrated with the school district right now. They have changed the boundaries for the schools so now my children go to different schools. Now this wouldn't be a problem if I could get a straight answer from them as to which school my incoming 8th grader is going to go to. I first learned of the boundary changes a while ago. An old neighbor of mine informed me that her daughter (who is in the same grade and school as mine) was going to be moved to B. Gale Wilson. I immediately went to the school web site to find out where our attendance area landed us. I was informed by the web site that they were in the process of updating the system and I needed to check back on June 24th.

The morning of the 24th I got online first thing and was greeted with the same message. Later that day, however, I got on and there it was. So I typed in my address and to my surprise the school of residence listed for 7th and 8th grade was B. Gale Wilson. I called the office of secondary education and asked them if my daughter who already attended Sullivan would be moved to B. Gale Wilson or if she would stay at Sullivan. She told me that I would be getting a letter in the mail explaining the situation and there would be a part to fill out if I wanted her to stay at Sullivan otherwise she would be going to B. Gale along with my incoming 7th grader.

By the way, I never got a letter. On July 1st a letter was posted on the web site explaining that if your incoming 8th grader was already at Sullivan she/he would be able to stay at Sullivan and would be automatically enrolled there. This not only confused me, but upset me a little bit. My husband really wants both kids at B. Gale Wilson. So I called the district again and spoke with another lady. I explained the situation to her (that I didn't want them at different schools) and she told me that since I had an incoming 7th grader at B. Gale my 8th grader would be able to go to B. Gale, too.

I explained to her that according to the letter she was going to be automatically enrolled at Sullivan so how do I go about getting her enrolled at B. Gale. She didn't know. She told me that I have to speak with someone in the open enrollment office. Of course there was nobody available to talk to me now so she told me to call back on Monday.

Ugh! I don't even know what I want anymore!

Won't it be funny

Psalm 147:4 (New International Version)

4 He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.

Won't it be funny when we get to heaven and find out that God has a name for the Sun that's something totally different then what we call it. Maybe I'm just easily amused.

Ephesians 2:1-10

1As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. 4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 1:15 - 23

15For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Ephesians 1:1-14 (New Living Translation)

1 This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus.
I am writing to God’s holy people in Ephesus, who are faithful followers of Christ Jesus.
2 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
Spiritual Blessings
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. 4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. 8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.
9 God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure. 10 And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. 11 Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.
12 God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. 13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

Pasta City

We just ate some pasta from Pasta City.  We had never been there before so it was a little scary, but we went for it.  We walked in and it actually reminded me of a little place in Dublin called Rigatoni's.  You order at the register and then sit down to enjoy your food.  Or you can take it to go like we did.  We ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce in family size which came with salad and bread.  When we got home we realized that even though we are a family of 4 this was about twice the amount of food we needed.  The price was $30, but like I said it was A LOT of food!   The food was really good, too.  Did I forget to mention that.  YUMMY!

Man shot during alleged motel robbery

Daily Republic - Thursday January 29, 2009
FAIRFIELD
An unidentified man was airlifted to John Muir Hospital with a gunshot wound and three suspects were arrested Wednesday night after an alleged robbery gone awry, said Fairfield Police Det. Cleo Mayoral.
The victim was in his room at Motel 6 when a male, and possibly a female suspect, arrived on foot, Mayoral said.  It is unknown at this time why or how the suspect or suspects initially entered the victim's room or the female's exact role in the incident.  The victim was allegedly robbed of some personal belongings then shot in the back.  His injuries are considered life threatening, Mayoral said.
After a foot chase that began at Raley's on Travis Boulevard and ended near Peet's Coffee & Tea on Holiday Lane, a male suspect was arrested.  The female suspect, along with another female who Mayoral said was the driver of a car possibly connected to the incident, was found near Kinder's on Oliver Road a short time later.
The police were still searching Wednesday night for the gun used in the incident.

Today I got back from Winter Camp at Silver Spur.  We had a great time with 21 of our church's youth.  It was a great time.   Perhaps I will write more later, but I'm tired.

Psalm 18:1-3

I love you Lord; you are my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.  He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold.  I will call on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, for he saves me from my enemies.

Round Table is YUMMY (and I went to the gym)

So my mom is here and she LOVES Round Table.  She doesn't have Round Table in Colorado so every time she is here we have to go out to Round Table.  That was tonight.  I think I undid all of my hard work at the gym this morning.  I decided to up my workout and instead of doing 2 miles I am going to do 2.5.  So that's what I did.  Anyway we ordered an extra large pepperoni and olive and 12 cinnamon twists.  A few minutes later the gal came out with 12 regular garlic twists.  We were like "Um we ordered the cinnamon twists".  They read the tag wrong so they went back to make the cinnamon twists and since the garlic twists were already done they gave them to us for free.  Nothing tastes better then free food and let me tell you, they were good.  So we ate about half of the garlic twists and 3/4 of the pizza and everyone except me had one cinnamon twists.  I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow!

My mom is here! (and I went to the gym)

So my mom got here today.  She flew to California for Dede's memorial.  She's staying with me until Tuesday morning.  I probably won't go back to the gym until then.   I did good today.  Luckily I got there right around 9 and Regis and Kelly was in.  That guaranteed 2 miles on the elliptical.  And I went upstairs.

And Again...

I went back to the gym this afternoon.  I'm lovin it (as they say).  I was there and my personal trainer (you get free sessions when you sign up) saw me.  She called me when I got home and set me up for an appointment next wednesday.  I know she's going to be disappointed that I've gained weight since our last session (she's been on maternity leave), but I hope to explain to her about the medication.  Speaking of medication I am taking the first full dose of my Seroquel tonight.  We'll see how that goes...

Still Rolling...

3rd day at the gym.  I didn't do as good today.  Only one mile and a few of the machines.   But I went!

On a roll...

Went to the gym again today.  Woo Whoo...

Went to the gym

I went to the gym today.  All by myself.  Without Adam.  I did 2 miles on the elliptical and did a couple of the weight machines.  Yeah me!

Went to the gym yet again

So I decided not to take my Seroquel last night because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get up this morning and I had a big day.   The second and third graders when on a field trip to the college to see Seussical the Musical.  I was  a chaperone.  Anyway after traipsing around the college campus half the day.  I came home and went to the gym.  I was tired and my knee hurt, but I went 2 miles on the elliptical.

Seroquel

My doctor prescribed a new medication for me.  It made me out of it today, but the doctor said that should go away after a few days.  This is from the P.I. sheet:

"This medication is used with or without other medications to treat certain mental/mood conditions (e.g. bipolar disorder, schizophrenia).  Quetiapine is known as an anti-psychotic drug (atypical type).  It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) in the brain.  This medication can decrease hallucinations and improve your concentration.  It helps you to think more clearly and positively about yourself, feel less nervous, and take a more active part in everyday life.  Quetiapine can help prevent severe mood swings or decrease how often mood swings occur."

Went to the gym

I went back to the gym today.  I'm quite proud of myself.  I did a 10 minute warm up on the elliptical and then headed upstairs to hit the weights.  I worked out on the weight machines for a while and then wrapped things up with a 30 minute walk on the treadmill.

Dede

I made a photo collage for my Dede's memorial.  You can't really see it good from here, but I think it looks pretty good.  I still have to add a few pictures that I need to get from my cousin.  I also had a picture of my Nana and Dede blown up to 16 x 20 to have at the memorial.

Went to the gym

So I went to the gym.  I spend 35 minutes on the elliptical and even though it's low impact my knee is killing me.  Now I'm going to go choke down 2 horse sized Glucosamine pills and see how I do.  Ugh...

Going to the Gym

So I am going to the gym today.  I am trying to lose some weight before my husband and I go on our next cruise.  We'll see how it goes.

OUCH!

I was hand washing my krispy treat dish today (a 13 x 9 inch pyrex) and it slipped out of my hands and SHATTERED in the sink!  I mean SHATTERED!  It cut me on my arm in a few places.  What a mess.  A bunch of pieces of glass went down into the garbage disposal.  I'm not sure what to do about that.  Any ideas???

UPDATE: I scooped out all of the big pieces from the disposal with only minimal damage to my hand.  I let the sink dry out for a couple of hours and then I got my Dyson (vacuum) and stuck the handle down the disposal.  It worked and I got all the pieces out.  It's working fine now.  Hooray for Dyson!

Krispy treats are yummy.  That's all... go about your business...
