Daily Republic - Thursday January 29, 2009
FAIRFIELD
An unidentified man was airlifted to John Muir Hospital with a gunshot wound and three suspects were arrested Wednesday night after an alleged robbery gone awry, said Fairfield Police Det. Cleo Mayoral.
The victim was in his room at Motel 6 when a male, and possibly a female suspect, arrived on foot, Mayoral said.  It is unknown at this time why or how the suspect or suspects initially entered the victim's room or the female's exact role in the incident.  The victim was allegedly robbed of some personal belongings then shot in the back.  His injuries are considered life threatening, Mayoral said.
After a foot chase that began at Raley's on Travis Boulevard and ended near Peet's Coffee & Tea on Holiday Lane, a male suspect was arrested.  The female suspect, along with another female who Mayoral said was the driver of a car possibly connected to the incident, was found near Kinder's on Oliver Road a short time later.
The police were still searching Wednesday night for the gun used in the incident.
